Principal's Welcome- Mr Richard Coates
Kirkheaton Primary School is in its 52nd year of existance. As a community primary school, it sits at the heart of the village and aims to be a key strand of the provision for the area. As part of South Pennine Academies, Kirkheaton Primary School is well supported by a successful Trust team led by the interim CEO, Alison Black.
I feel privileged to be in the role of Principal of the school and am excited to be working alonside strong practitioners who have joined me on the journey to make Kirkheaton an incredible place to come and learn.
At Kirkheaton, a highly skilled and experienced team of staff are all committed to providing a safe environment and a high-quality education for our students. We have a relentless approach to making sure that all children in our care, no matter of their starting points achieve their true potential. We know the great privilege we have at providing the education for the children at Kirkheaton and aim to make sure they are fully ready for the next stages of their lives by giving them the best quality of education possible.
We recognise the strong contribution a well-designed enrichment programme can bring: we offer a range of trips, clubs and experiences that not only help to deliver and engaging curriculum but also add to the children’s personal developments. We value taking learning beyond the classroom and as such encourage activities to take place outside, in our fantastic grounds and also we encourage activities that take the pupils out into the local community. Our curriculum is based on a three strand model: Academic, Personal Development and Safety curriculums. Upon completion of these we aim to create rounded students who are ready for the next part of their journey in life.
We have well established relationships with our families and the local community and expect all staff to commit to this way of working. Kirkheaton is a loving family school, that makes no apologies for the value we place on the relentless approach we have to esnuring all of our children receive the best care.
We encourage families to share any problems with us, any small problem, as we understand a small problem is easier to fix than when it becomes a bigger issue.
I look forward to working with and welcoming you to our amazing academy.
